further depth in government and who used which one
today is my first day back to western civ in 3 weeks! I still feel really sick but whatever I gotta get my work done so today we read about warring states and how now in this time period why we need to know about all this stuff and how in Greece really formed our government. We learned 9 new terms including polis, acropolis, tyrant, democracy, monachy, acristrocracy, oligarchy, phalanx, and about the Persian wars. we learned who used each type of governments. Mycenae's used monarchy which is ruled by one king, and it was hereditary which means if your father was king you would just take over when he died. Athen's used aristocracy which was ruled by the noble which was also hereditary off of your family tree, but they also soon switched to direct democracy which was ruled by all citizens and it didn't matter your family tree as long as you were a citizen. Sparta used oligarchy which was ruled by only a small group of citizens this was determined by health and wealth and nobility.
