philosophy

today we learned about the ways of life and how philosophy helps us better understand the unknown about the world.also this is my first blog in a while and I actual remembered to do it so I'm pretty proud. today we mainly just watched a video and took a lot of notes and hit people with erasers.

democracy and Greece golden age

today we read some more so that other people could take their test so that we could all get our test back. which also reminds me apparently I didn't do so well like I thought I did. today we also read about the philosophers like socrates who died from poison and we also learned about one of his students and also we learned about how logic came along which logic is the art and science of reasoning. I think we should really make logic a subject in all schools because if u learn all about who created it and all during history I think you should know what it is and practice in it I mean these peopled created it for a reason. I took logic in 6th 7th and 8th grade and I know it really helped me. it taught me a lot about how people work and the fallicies and all and about how people try to reason and argue with you it teaches you how to avoid things and how to know when someone is tricking you and I think that is really important to know so I think they should make it part of the academic...
today we took a test and it wasn't super hard so I think I did pretty well my notes helped a lot for the government stuff and the word polis I really needed to know what a that 3 layered ship was because it had a question on it but I didn't know that answer at all so that was great but other than that I think I did well.  today we read about how art and architecture were huge and they built a temple 30 ft tall made of ivory and gold and also we learned about another war this one between Sparta and Athens and how Athens should have won. because they were rich but all. they had was a strong navy while Sparta had a strong army and was very had to be attacked by water because of the way the land was. So then Athens got a horrible plegua and it wiped out 1/3 OF THE POPULATION. then since both sides were tired and done with war the both sighed a truce. which didn't stay for long.

no help just about study group

today we learned we had a test. People got their projects back and got to talk about their mistakes. and then we got into study groups with Caroline and Amon and studied a lot.

ways of war

today we learned all about the ways of war. about how Persia should have beaten Greece because Greece was way out numbered. somehow Greece ended up winning and  cornered the Persians by sending a man over saying he was switching sides and that he was now on the Persians side and actually he lead them all right into the trap of the greek people. We learned all about the revenge of Darius and his son. We also learned how the army would fight in a square shape with swords and shields and long spears.

further depth in government and who used which one

today is my first day back to western civ in 3 weeks! I still feel really sick but whatever I gotta get my work done so today we read about warring states and how now in this time period why we need to know about all this stuff and how in Greece really formed our government. We learned 9 new terms including polis, acropolis, tyrant, democracy, monachy, acristrocracy, oligarchy, phalanx, and about the Persian wars. we learned who used each type of governments. Mycenae's used monarchy which is ruled by one king, and it was hereditary which means if your father was king you would just take over when he died. Athen's used aristocracy which was ruled by the noble which was also hereditary off of your family tree, but they also soon switched to direct democracy which was ruled by all citizens and it didn't matter your family tree as long as you were a citizen. Sparta used oligarchy which was ruled by only a small group of citizens this was determined by health and wealth and nobil...
